"A well-edited sex scene reveals character, heightens tension, and moves the story forward." —Megan Hennessey, instructor
Important Information About Our Real-Time Webinars

All webinar times are in Eastern Time. For more information on how EFA webinars are conducted, please see this page.

Great sex scenes reveal character, heighten tension, and move the story forward. But without the help of an editor, they can also tip into cliché or over-the-top euphemism. In this 60-minute workshop, we’ll look at how to build compelling sex scenes across different genres and relationship styles. We’ll also explore what makes a sex scene fundamental to the story, learn a few writing exercises that will help authors get unstuck when crafting them, and discover how to edit these scenes to reveal character. This will be a fun, engaging, and enlightening presentation with plenty of time to address your questions and talk shop.

A lifelong romance reader, Megan Hennessey got her start at Sourcebooks Casablanca at the height of 50 Shades of Grey‘s popularity. Since then, she has presented seminars on how to write steamy scenes for the Women in Publishing Conference. She also works one on one with indie authors in contemporary and historical romance as a freelance developmental editor.
