Victoria Holloway
Hello!
I’m Victoria Holloway. Reading, writing, and editing are lifelong loves. I find immense joy in making writing clearer, more compelling, and more coherent. I work with English-language writers to refine their words and ensure they connect with their desired audience. As an editor, I believe in being a writer’s cheerleader and teammate. I may tear apart some of your sentences, but I’m just as interested in building you up. My job is to bolster your success—that’s achieved by editing your words, drawing attention to your strengths, and providing encouragement.
Background
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (History), I built a career in the post-secondary sector. While the roles changed over the years, writing and editing were constants, whether in relation to marketing copy, executive reports, or formal correspondence. In 2023, I chose to pursue my passion and enrolled in the Editing Certificate program at Simon Fraser University. I graduated in early 2024. My studies included courses in structural (developmental) and stylistic (line) editing, copy editing, proofreading, grammar, document design and production, writing for the web, professional writing, and ethics and legal issues in writing and publishing, among others. Now I want to share my skills with you!
Editing Services
I offer structural and stylistic editing services to non-fiction authors only.
My copy editing and proofreading services are available to all.
I do not edit works with gratuitous violence or narratives that support misogynist, racist, or similar rhetoric.
Authenticity Reading
I am available as an authenticity reader for experiences related to
- Womanhood
- Motherhood
- Pregnancy and birth (Fun fact: I’m a trained birth doula and childbirth educator)
- Mental health, depression, and anxiety
- Bisexuality
Preferred Clients
I’m especially keen to collaborate with authors of creative non-fiction (memoir), realistic fiction, and those exploring themes related to marginalized identities, LGBTQIA+ issues, mental health, birth, and parenthood.
