Rachel Reeter
My love for books and stories began when I was a toddler and has only grown over the years. From reading early children’s books to my current favorite fantasy novels, my passion for the written word has always been a large part of my life. My fondness for reading led me to pursue a degree in creative writing where I found that I loved the process of workshopping stories in class. Working with my fellow students on their manuscripts led to years of beta reading and helping friends with their own novels. It didn’t take long for me to realize that editing might be the right path for me.
I pursued further education with the editing certificate program at the University of Chicago Graham School. Here I learned the mechanics of copyediting, developmental editing, how to follow a style guide, and how to work together with authors to polish a manuscript. Now, I’m a freelance editor working with authors on a variety of projects.
While I work with most genres, I may not be the best fit for Christian or religious fiction, poetry, academic work, or nonfiction. Though, if you’re unsure whether or not I will take your genre please don’t hesitate to reach out! The genres that I love and have the most experience with are fantasy, sci-fi, romance, and YA.
