Lila LaBine

LaBine Editorial

Hi! I’m Lila, editor and owner of LaBine Editorial since 2020.

I specialize in paragraph- and sentence-level editing of upmarket and commercial fiction, especially women’s fiction, romance, suspense, and thriller. I’ve also worked on stories in the romantasy, low fantasy, and sword & sorcery sub-genres. I edit and proofread screenplays. And I create courses for newer writers.

I’m dedicated to helping writers feel confident in their work and providing a safe space for them to get feedback and encouragement. If you’re looking for an editor who will listen to your concerns, prioritize your voice, and maybe make you laugh, I’m that person!

My editing services include

  • Line & Copyedit
  • Copyedit
  • Beta Read
  • Screenplay Edit
  • Screenplay Proofread

I am accepting new clients for January 2025 and beyond.

I work on book-length manuscripts as well as short stories, and feature-length screenplays as well as shorts.

Manuscript wish list: I am especially interested in working on projects in the genres typically known as “women’s fiction” and “domestic suspense/thriller,” as well as contemporary romance (of all spice levels) and general contemporary fiction.

Screenplay wish list: I love working on romantic comedy, dramedy, and fairy tale–based screenplays.

The best part of my job is helping writers feel confident in their projects. I love my business. I take my work seriously, and I constantly strive to improve my skills and learn more every day. I hold a Specialized Certificate in Copyediting through UC San Diego Extended Studies, and I regularly take classes through the EFA and Script University.
