Kelley Tatro
Hi! I’m a collaborative author-editor who loves to help fellow academic and nonfiction writers launch their ideas into the world.
I have a PhD from Duke University and my background stretches across the arts, humanities, and social sciences. My first book came out in 2022, and I have also published journalistic writing.
I’d be happy to help you with your developmental editing, line editing, and copyediting needs.
Could you use a sounding board as you carry out your next article or book project?
Having published in academic journals and guided a book manuscript from proposal to production with a university press, I have firsthand experience with peer review and scholarly publishing. Through developmental editing, I help authors
- highlight the most engaging themes in their material
- ensure the persuasive unfolding and support of their arguments
- incorporate reviewers’ feedback
- organize their book chapters or articles and the sections within them.
Could you use another set of eyes on your writing style?
Let’s put to rest that old stereotype about dull, convoluted academic writing! Whether you’re seeking to write for a broader audience or must publish in English though it’s not your first language, I use line editing to help authors craft flowing, engaging prose.
Could you use a close reader to double-check your grammar?
With copyediting training from the UC Berkeley Extension professional editing sequence, I can help you feel sure of your manuscript’s grammar, punctuation, and other key details.
