Katie Wheeler

Blueberry Books Limited

Hi! I’m a UK based fiction editor, specialising in developmental and line editing.  I help indie authors develop strong stories and powerful prose.

My passion is for immersive stories, whether they pull us deep into a fantasy world or a character’s psyche. My favourite genres to work with are:
– Fantasy/Sci Fi
– Young Adult
– New Adult
– LGBTQ+

With a background in tutoring and mentoring for Creative Writing, I have a knack for seeing the vision a writer is working towards and helping them realise it. My approach is supportive and encouraging, whilst still being honest and, when necessary, firm.

Whenever I take on a project, I’m making a commitment to keep your goals in sight, your characters consistent, your story meaningful, and your voice authentic. And I take those responsibilities seriously! I will always prioritise  the story and your aspirations for it, so when something needs revising I don’t sugar-coat it. Of course, I’ll be kind and intentional in how I phrase my comments, but I am going to be clear about the issue, explain why it isn’t working, and help you find the right solution for your story.

I’m passionate about storytelling, and the importance of diversity within it. I believe good writing, and editing should be accessible for everyone, so I’m particularly interested in helping new writers, and authors from underrepresented backgrounds. (If you’re looking for an editor who gets it, my personal experience is in the Neurodivergent, Disabled, and LGBTQ+ Communities.)

As both an editor and a tutor, I’ve worked with writers of various nationalities, for some of whom English is a second language. I also have a lot of experience helping dyslexic writers with both their confidence and their prose.

Services:
Line Editing
Developmental editing
Manuscript Evaluation/Appraisal
Story Coaching
