Clio Editing Services
I am a freelance editor who specializes in fiction. I work mainly with self-published authors, so I’m knowledgeable about the self-publishing environment and focused on providing fast, affordable, high-quality services.
My focus is on genre fiction, including romance, mystery/thriller, action/adventure, fantasy, science fiction, horror, historical, and young adult. I especially love editing mysteries, thrillers, sci-fi, fantasy, military/action-adventure, and historical fiction.
I offer content editing, line editing, copyediting and proofreading, as well as packages combining the above services. If you aren’t sure what level of editing you need, I’m happy to take a look at a sample chapter and make a recommendation.
I have helped to bring over 1000 titles to market, including bestsellers such as Matthew Rief’s Logan Dodge series and James Rosone and Miranda Watson’s various military and sci-fi series.
I pride myself on preserving the author’s voice, style and vision while ensuring clarity, consistency and correctness.
I am American, but I edit in both US English (using Chicago Manual of Style and Webster’s 11th Collegiate Dictionary) and UK English (to include CAN, AUS, and NZ variants, using the Oxford Style Manual and Oxford dictionaries). For non-US authors, I provide full Americanization services, or, without Americanizing, I can advise authors on usage or vocabulary choices and cultural differences that are likely to confuse US readers.
Though I specialize in fiction, I also edit general nonfiction (business, memoir, popular history, and much more) and academic work (using APA, MLA or Chicago styles).
I hold a B.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan, as well as an M.A. in English Literature. I also studied law (University of Michigan) and library and information science (Indiana University) before becoming a full-time freelance editor.
