Diane Young and Associates
Book Editor with Twenty-Five Years of In-house Experience
Let me help you realize your manuscript’s potential. I know what acquisitions editors and agents are looking for when they evaluate a manuscript, and I would be happy to share that knowledge with you.
During twenty-five years in the industry, I have held senior editorial positions with both large and small publishers. I’ve acquired and edited a wide range of manuscripts, including award-winning fiction and nonfiction for adults, young adults, middle-school students, and reluctant readers. My portfolio includes autobiographies, biographies, children’s books, crime fiction, literary fiction, memoirs, middle-grade fiction, mysteries, romance, thrillers, women’s fiction, and young adult books. My skill set includes acquisitions, copyediting, developmental editing, line editing, literary coaching, manuscript evaluation, stylistic editing, and substantive editing.
I am proud to have acquired and edited manuscripts that have won or been shortlisted for a variety of awards, including the Arthur Ellis Best First Novel Award, the Unhanged Arthur for Best Unpublished Crime Novel, the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize, and the Governor General’s Award.
I am a member of several professional organizations, including Editors Canada and CANSCAIP (the Canadian Society of Children’s Authors, Illustrators and Performers). I am also the author of See No Evil, a middle-grade children’s novel, published by Orca Press.
