Danita Rae Mayer

Niche Editing

I work with indie authors on novels, memoirs, self-help, and short stories. I have years of training and professional editing experience to help you on your writing and publishing journey.

My editing training includes courses through the Editorial Freelancers Association and University of California-San Diego. I have also taken courses and workshops in creative writing and fiction writing. I hold Bachelor’s degrees in Biology, Anthropology, and Psychology from Arizona State University.

My services include copyediting, line and stylistic editing, developmental and structural editing, manuscript evaluations, and short story critiques. I work on manuscripts of all lengths and writing stages from outline to book.

As a professional editor since 2016, I have the skills and experience to address sentence structure, paragraph flow, clarity and accuracy, grammar and punctuation, character development, plot structure, world building, point of view, story beats, and much more. I focus my edits on bringing out the best of you author’s style and voice without changing the heart and soul of your story.

I work in most genres of fiction including: romance, sci-fi and fantasy, suspense, mystery, contemporary, LBGTQ+, women’s fiction, NA, YA, and MG, and picture books. I specialize in memoirs and edit many genres of non-fiction including self-help, travelogues, how-to, inspiration, humor, and more.

I welcome authors of all levels of skill and experience who take their writing seriously and want to work together to create a polished and professional manuscript.
