The Better Editor of New England & Waltham Wordworks
Through Waltham Wordworks, I specialize in expert online content creation for businesses of all kind.
I also work extensively under The Better Editor of New England label. I do most types of writing and editing work – check with me to see if I’m available and have the right expertise. But I specialize in a few things:
(1) Manuscript editing. Non-fiction (memoir, instructional, self-help, etc.) and fiction (novel length and short story collection). My manuscript clients have nothing but praise for the work. I usually roll everything together: copyediting, fact-checking, a bit of developmental work as needed, etc. Mainstream or self-published. Or I can target a specific role (copyediting, for example). Very competitive rates.
(2) Editing and writing work for small businesses and independent operators who can’t afford a full-time position. Looking for revised web site text, with good SEO? Ongoing content to keep your site fresh? Need a business plan? Need documentation for a client or a marketing brochure? Do you need good-looking forms for repeated procedures? Want corporate correspondence templates for frequently used documents? I’ll work with you to make your small business or independent outfit look professional and on top of its game. I’ll take on any category: I’ve worked with real estate companies, law firms, security firms, restaurants, dry cleaners, indoor playgrounds, snow plow services, arborists, and tax preparers, to name a few.
(3) Academic manuscript work. Need a manuscript line-edited by an outside eye? Put into proper format for publication (CMS/APA/MLA/etc.)? Need all references checked and verified? Need your English-as-a-second-language put into smooth, native constructions? I’m most comfortable with papers in the social sciences (education, history, sociology, psychology, etc.), but also can do more technical papers (economics, for example). Let me take a look to let you know if I can help.
I have an MFA degree (Fiction) from the University of Southern Maine, have taught at the college level, and maintain a successful blog on language. I’m not intimidated by subject matter, but I’ll be happy to refer you to another if I don’t feel I’m the right person to tackle your job.
