Mermaid's Pearl Editorial

To be a great editor, first you have to be an experienced reader. From an early age and throughout my life, I’ve been captivated by the written word and countless stories full of heart and imagination. As my literary interests evolved, I found myself examining what elements of a story make it successfully resonate with me and my fellow bookworms and how those aspects can be improved upon throughout the writing process.

As an independent editor and founder of Mermaid’s Pearl Editorial, I now use my passion and honed skills to help authors and publishers to effectively polish, perfect, and publish their best work. Through my MS in Publishing degree and diverse professional background, I have almost a decade of experience in trade, digital, academic, and retail publishing.

I work with most genres in both fiction and nonfiction for copyediting, line editing, and proofreading. In addition to being an efficient and reliable editorial professional who can meet deadlines, my greatest strength is an eye for intricate detail. I’ll ensure that your content is not only grammatically correct but also accurate and consistent with your particular editorial style and publishing goals.

For manuscript evaluation and developmental/substantive editing, my specialty is within the children’s genre: middle grade, young adult, and new adult. I’ve been a beta reader to aspiring authors for over a decade and gained experience in children’s editorial imprints at both Simon & Schuster and HarperCollins. I’ll assess the individual building blocks of your story in-depth and how they fit together to create the intended “big picture” concept.
