Brianna Clark
Stories are my passion and I want to hear yours.
I am a well-rounded writer, editor, and educator with years of experience in various areas of publishing. Whether it’s a fiction or nonfiction novel, essay, article, speech, memoir, textbook, or poem, you can count on me to polish your writing to be ready for publication. The services I offer include copyediting, proofreading, line editing, and developmental editing. As a published short fiction writer and poet, as well as a former newspaper editor and writer, I understand the complexities of word choice, tone, character development, and narrative structure and their application to multiple forms of writing.
My foundation for wordsmithing comes from my bachelor’s degree in English Writing from Biola University and my editorial experience was honed through two publishing internships and completing the Editing Certificate Program through UChicago. I have mastered copyediting and line editing but I specialize in developmental editing, having taken extra classes on developmental editing for fiction. The program followed the Chicago Manual of Style but I am also familiar with AP style and MLA format. Alongside freelance editing, I’m currently a part-time, high school English teacher and my students find my feedback on their writing to be gentle, straightforward, and mindful of their intentions with every project.
As your editor, you can expect low prices, a quick turnaround, and a detailed response, focused on providing support and encouragement to help you shape your writing into the best version of itself. I particularly love diverse narratives and am passionate about unique perspectives and nuanced arguments. My editorial style involves asking a lot of questions and welcoming feedback to ensure that I understand your point of view and the significance of your narrative.
My reading, writing, and editing specialties include:
- Romance
- Science Fiction
- Fantasy
- LGBTQ+ content
- Disability narratives
- Multicultural fiction
- Informative and celebratory speeches
- Opinions articles
- Essays
- Poetry, especially slam poetry
- Textbooks (and other educational materials)
You can explore my qualifications further in my resumé below and I am always willing to complete an assessment or editing test to showcase my abilities. Feel free to contact me via my email, also listed below, with any questions you may have. I look forward to connecting with you and hearing the story you have to tell.
