Job List

The Job List is a proven, effective tool for hiring qualified freelancers. Clients submit a posting describing their job and we circulate it to the EFA’s membership. EFA Job List clients include published, unpublished, and new authors; academic researchers and writers; publishing houses; businesses of all types; and placement agencies.

We have helped connect clients with EFA members for more than 10,000 jobs…and counting!

To post a job, complete the Job List submission form. Once the job has been approved, we’ll share it with EFA members on the members-only area of our website and via an individual email alert. Qualified freelancers will then contact you directly.

We do not post low-paying or nonpaying jobs, jobs that pay by royalty or on spec, internships of any kind, or jobs we suspect may be fraudulent. The EFA reserves the right to reject or remove any job posting for any reason. To learn more, please see our Job List Submission Approval Policy.

Client Testimonials

I am happy to write to let you know that I’ve hired an editor for our book through the ad we placed with EFA. I had a number of good responses, but [the person we hired] was just a perfect fit for this author and topic. I did touch base with a few other editors and I do expect to be looking for more opportunities to hire other EFA members. Thanks for your assistance and support!
—senior content development manager at major U.S. publisher

Thanks, EFA. Your membership is outstanding. I have filled the job I posted earlier this week. Couldn’t be happier. BTW, of the 62 responses to my project, 45 came from EFA, 8 from ACES and 9 from Upwork. Glad to say I hired an EFA editor.
—historical fiction author

I would like to close the job listing I created because I had sufficient responses and have hired someone. It was a WONDERFUL experience and I appreciate the presence of this website. What a gift to writers!

Hiring Basics

The EFA neither sets rates nor advises members on what rates or rate structures they should choose. Individual members’ rates vary considerably depending on the nature of the work, the time frame of the assignment, the degree of special expertise required, the member’s experience, and other factors. Job List submissions require the client to state the rate their job pays, which can either be a set amount or a range.

The EFA’s 3,300+ members possess a wide array of editorial skills, specialties, and expertise. To learn about the various types of work that these top-notch freelance professionals do, see our list of member skills and descriptions of the editorial services members provide.
