Western Chapters Talk with Author Wendelin Van Draanen
Our chapter joins the western EFA chapters for an interview styled presentation by children’s and YA author Wendelin Van Draanen. A Q&A will follow. We’ll be talking about working with editors from the author’s POV.
Our guest is an international-award-winning, bestselling author of more than 30 novels enjoyed by readers around the world. She is the author of the 18-book Edgar-winning Sammy Keyes mystery series, and her novel Flipped became a Warner Brothers feature film. A former high school teacher, Van Draanen lives on the central coast of California. Her first nonfiction book, Hope in the Mail: Reflections on Writing and Life, is part memoir, part writing guide, and part publishing insight, suitable for teen and adult readers, especially those who want to write.
Van Draanen has a hefty backlist at Random House—prominently, the Sammy Keyes series and the Shredderman books. She has written across multiple genres, including mystery and romance, in the children’s and YA markets. Click here for a link to her website.
