From Academia into Academic Editing: A Panel for Prospective Editors
Please register for the Academic Editing Chapter’s panel for prospective editors on Thursday, January 18, from 12 p.m.–1:15 p.m. PDT / 3 p.m.–4:15 EDT!
Editing careers are diverse. So are the pathways to getting one. Maybe you love:
- detailed outlines
- conceptualizing big-picture ideas
- fine-tuning each piece of punctuation, word, or sentence
- plain language and communicating complex or scientific ideas to broad audiences
Over the course of your masters or doctoral studies, you’ve likely confronted—in moments of despair or celebration—your unique strengths in writing and editing your own work. The professional editor leverages these same unique strengths in a field that recognizes not only the rigor of the writing and editing process but also the diverse skills necessary for each of its stages. This 75-minute panel conversation features academic editors with diverse backgrounds pursuing a range of roles within the profession of academic editing. Our panelists:
- Cath Ennis, wordomics.com
- Rachel Hynson, Ph.D., rachelhynson.com
- Rachel Freedman Stapleton, PhD, uofrpress.ca
- Katherine Wiley, PhD, goldenrodeditorial.com
- Akiko Yamagata, graphiteediting.com
This free event is organized by the EFA / Editors Canada Academic Editing chapter.
