First Page Re(a)d Flags
Join us for our first quarterly meeting of 2025! Manuscripts live or die in the slush pile by the first page. This class will cover everything an agent looks for on the first page and why they’ll reject it. Learn to spot the common red flags, why you should highlight them, and how best to advise writers into their next revision—or why these telltale signs might make you think twice before taking a job that may be more difficult than it seems.
Speaker Bio: S. G. George has an unnatural love for all things punctuation and can not only spot the difference between an em dash and an en dash but also knows when to use the former rather than the latter. She has taken up the mantle of acquisitions editor for the micro press, Cursed Dragon Ship Publishing, and edits for freelance clients when she can. While also a traditional artist and tabletop player, she would rather be spending her time pouring over manuscripts and scribbling notes in the margins. We assume that she also likes rock music, her pet tortoise, her family, and long walks on the beach but cannot confirm because she’s editing again.
