About the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Chapter

The BIPOC EFA Chapter hopes to be a safe space for communities of color to network, share experiences and resources, and brainstorm ideas for future collaboration. BIPOC professionals continue to be underrepresented in the publishing industry and its related fields, even as publishers aim to expand and diversify their content. We believe BIPOC writers deserve to be edited by BIPOC editors, who better understand their lived experiences.

Freelancing can be isolating as it is. We aim to create a space based on collectivism and mutual aid to support each other and help all of us accomplish our professional goals. Your input and collaboration is essential for this project. We want to hear your ideas, comments, and questions as this will help us shape the chapter into something that will benefit all of us.

Our monthly meetings are virtual. Chapter events are open to all members, guests of members, and freelancers interested in joining the EFA.
