"Editors play a critical role in developing training materials that motivate learners and improve performance." —Darina Mayfield, instructor

Important Information About Our Real-Time Webinars

All webinar times are in Eastern Time. For more information on how EFA webinars are conducted, please see this page.

Training materials are tools that help people learn and develop skills. They can include things like presentations, handouts, quizzes, and quick reference guides. If these materials are messy or not well-edited, people may lose interest or have trouble understanding key ideas. Editors play a vital role in improving the organization and attractiveness of training content, making it more useful for learners.

This 90-minute session is for editors working in talent development in government, academic, and corporate settings. You’ll learn how editing can transform learning content into effective training tools that boost performance. You’ll also get practical tips for refining learning goals, improving presentations, and revising assessments. By the end of this webinar, you’ll have the skills to make sure your clients’ training materials connect with their audience and improve their performance.

Darina Mayfield (she/her) is a writer, editor, and the founder of Gerry Dean Editorial, an editing agency assisting a wide variety of clients looking to publish, submit, or distribute written work in print, online, or digitally. She’s a graduate of the University of Washington’s writing and editing programs and of Sourcebooks’ BIPOC editorial training program. Darina’s craft work is featured regularly by the Hudson Valley Writers Guild and highlights her other obsession: creative nonfiction.
