The EFA began a new fiscal year in September, and we welcome returning members of the Board of Directors, including those who were reelected at the June 2024 Annual Meeting—co-executive Katy Grenfell; treasurer Marcina Zaccaria; and directors Stephanie Argy, Dominique Chatterjee, Sheryl Holmberg, and Dayna Reidenouer. We would like to introduce you to the three newly elected directors and look forward to their vital work and contributions in the coming year.

Terry Anderson (he/him) has been an EFA member since 2019 and a freelance science and medical writer and editor for thirty years, working with journal publishers, governmental and nongovernmental organizations, corporations, university researchers, and others. In his newly appointed role as Planning and Programs committee chair, Terry is looking forward to reaching out to other editing professionals to develop new webinars and courses that expand the EFA Education Program’s range of offerings—for instance, comparing the major style guides; editing tables, figures, and graphs; medical terminology for non-medical writers; ethics of writing and editing; copyright and other legal issues, etc. He also is keen on utilizing his skills as a former communications and governance specialist for the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief to help implement the EFA’s strategic objective of having an effective, representative, and responsible board that is accountable to the membership and provides organizational oversight and structure.

Sheryl Lieb (she/her) has been an EFA member since 2023 and is eager to become more involved with the organization by participating in areas where she feels she can best contribute. Sheryl is a professional academic editor, writing consultant, and dissertation coach, as well as co-editor of the academic journal, Philosophy, Theory, and Foundations in Education. As a life-long scholar, former university educator, and academic editor, she is dedicated to advancing knowledge and practice in the field of editing, especially as they inform growth, expertise, and professionalism. She believes the work of editing should be understood as a uniquely human skill/craft/art, essential to human culture and to the professions. Outside of work, Sheryl enjoys her regular practice of whole body movement and spending time with friends and family.

Eric Myers (he/him) has been an EFA member since 2023 and has worked in editing, copywriting, and communications. As a former communications director at an international nonprofit organization serving seven million members globally, Eric wants to bring that experience to help the EFA coordinate and optimize its communications efforts. Additionally, he is interested in helping to professionalize and expand the EFA’s Education Program.

We are grateful to these members for serving on the Board and hope you consider volunteering with the EFA as a way to learn more about and contribute to your professional association!
