Lisa Walton
Lisa Walton is a writer, editor, and book coach who helps writers effectively and efficiently write books that hook readers and leave an emotional imprint. As an editor and book coach she helps authors at all stages of the drafting process craft a compelling and marketable story. From productivity hacks to project management, she teaches writers how to prepare for, plan, produce, and polish a book that readers can’t put down. A former lawyer and college professor, Lisa’s not afraid to provide a dose of tough love when necessary, but always in the nicest possible way–she was also an elementary school teacher.
Lisa brings twenty years of experience to her clients. She has edited fiction (short stories, thrillers, romance, contemporary fiction, mystery, and more), nonfiction (education, business, self-help, and marketing) and, academic papers (law, politics, education, and psychology). Lisa’s keen eye for detail shaped by a decade practicing law and borderline obsession with grammar rules make her a natural for line and copy edits. A former writing professor, Lisa taught creative writing and methods of teaching writing (to future teachers), she has a fundamental understanding of story, and an uncanny ability to spot plot holes and inconsistencies in a manuscript.
Lisa specializes in line editing, copyediting, proofreading, developmental editing, literary coaching, and manuscript evaluation. She loves to read contemporary fiction, mysteries of all types, thrillers, suspense, horror, romance, and contemporary fiction for adults, ya and middle grade.
Lisa is also a writer. She has ghostwritten books in a variety of industries from health and wellness to education to business. She’s also the author of multiple award-winning short stories, publish “The Lady of Darkness” in Fireside, an anthology of ghost stories, legends and lore, and the forthcoming book Banishing Busy: A Guide to Getting It All Done Without Going off the Deep-End. She’s currently putting the finishing touches on her first YA thriller.
Lisa is a mom of three. She lives in northwestern PA, but dreams of living in a pink cottage on the beach. When she’s not writing or coaching, you can find her running, baking, or playing with her Sheepadoodles.
