Guts Publishing
I’m the director and editor at Guts Publishing. I specialize in line editing and developmental editing. I also do manuscript assessments. My favorite genres are memoir and any fiction based on a true story. I also love literary fiction, crime fiction, short stories and poetry.
I’m from Chicago but live in London. I work in US and UK English. My background includes an MA in Creative Writing and an MA in Modern Literature.
I have edited and published the work of over 70 writers. Our books have landed in The Guardian, BBC Culture, The Scotsman, The Edinburgh Evening News, and more. As well, Euphoric Recall was acknowledged by Scottish Parliament and Fish Town was featured on the BBC Big Scottish Book Club. I’m very proud of what we’ve accomplished, and in a short amount of time.
My book editing prices depend on the length and complexity of your work, and how long the edit will take. I usually ask to see a sample chapter before providing a quote. To get an idea of my prices, they are based on CIEP’s suggested minimum rates and the Editorial Freelancers Association’s rate chart. I also have pricing guidelines on my website.
If we decide to work together, I request a 50% down payment and the remainder is paid when the project is complete.
For a quote, please send an email with some details about you and your manuscript and what you’d like to accomplish, including the genre and word count.
I also help writers land publishing contracts. You can find out more here.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing from you.
