About the Mountain West Chapter

The Mountain West Chapter encompasses the states of Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, North and South Dakota, and Nebraska. Editorial freelancing can be a lonely affair, and we would rather have a broad community than no community at all.
The Mountain West Chapter was founded with the following missions in mind:
  • to create an inclusive and welcome community that supports freelancers
  • to empower freelancers as agents of the editorial profession
  • to facilitate learning, and to communicate events and opportunities in which editorial freelancers can demonstrate their unique skills and craft
  • to broaden networking potential, and to encourage the sharing of information and experience so that all may grow

Who can join? Anyone! We would rather you have a broad and diverse community than be isolated by remoteness (or by simply not having an existing chapter in your area). If interested, please reach out to the chapter coordinators at chap_mwest@the-efa.org.

Chapter Events: Both social and learning events will be held regularly throughout the year. Chapter events are open to all members of the EFA. If you are not an EFA member and are interested in attending, please contact Hailey or Martha at chap_mwest@the-efa.org. Details of upcoming and past events will be posted here, as well as be communicated via the chapter’s email address. Because we are such a large group, geographically, chapter events will be almost exclusively virtual. However, we encourage that upcoming writing-related events in your area be highlighted so that interested individuals can attend in person, both to represent themselves and the EFA, and to strengthen professional and personal relationships. If you would like to share an upcoming event, please contact the chapter coordinators at chap_mwest@the-efa.org.

Is if free? Membership in the chapter is free to all members of the EFA in good standing. Please note that membership in the EFA can carry separate fees. See the organization’s page for more details.

Office Closed Monday April 8.

The EFA Offices will be closed Monday, April 8, 2024. We will reopen on Tuesday, April 9. Job postings, discussion list subscriptions, and other customer service requests may not be responded to until then.
