Future Worlds Editing
Getting your SFF novel ready for the world can be a long, arduous journey—but you don’t have to go it alone. Let me be your guide through the creative wilderness.
Hello! I’m Jake (they/them), a developmental editor based in the UK with clients worldwide.
I can offer you craft-focused editorial feedback at any stage of your writing journey, from planning to pitching. This support can help you figure out where your manuscript stands, where you want to take it next, and how you can get there without fruitless detours and frustrating pitfalls. You won’t have to worry about anything other than what matters most: your story.
I work with authors who are writing science fiction, fantasy and other speculative fiction for adult and young adult audiences.
My primary focus is on queer SFF—that is, speculative stories told through a queer lens, with LGBTQIA+ characters, themes and/or worldbuilding. I also welcome the opportunity to work on any type of inclusive SFF that centres marginalised voices and stories.
The world needs your story, and I’d be honoured to work with you to help you get it ready for readers.
Services include: developmental editing, manuscript evaluation, story coaching, synopsis critique, query letter critique, sensitivity reading, and gender worldbuilding consultation.
