Nancy Disenhaus

Scriptorium Editing Services

As a longtime teacher of literature and writing, I have coached thousands of writers from development of ideas through final editing for grammar, usage, and mechanics. My goal has always been to help writers bring their vision to light in the most satisfying final form.  I bring to my work enthusiasm, tact, deep knowledge of writing and literature, and great respect for the writer’s act of creation. I care about each writer’s needs and goals.

I offer specific, focused analysis and recommendations at every stage from manuscript assessment and development through line editing for style and clarity and copyediting for polished final manuscripts. I work in genres ranging from fiction and memoir, including Young Adult, to screenplays and academic work, including dissertations and scholarly articles.

I hold an Ed.D from the University of Vermont (2015) in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.  My dissertation, “Boys, Writing, and the Literacy Gender Gap: What We Know, What We Think We Know,” has been downloaded over 16,000 times worldwide. My other degrees include a BA in history from Mount Holyoke College and an MAT in English from Cornell University.
